And from that day the King no longer slept, but bent his will continually to master the Seven Stones within his helmet. And when the Seven Stars saw that he used their power so, they took counsel together, saying,
“You know, O Stars, that at the Beginning of Ages, were not Seven but Eight. And one of us in the wickedness of his pride strove for mastery over the others. And he was stripped of his place and cast into the Void, dwelling nameless and formless in the darkness to this day. As he did now so does this King who spurned and defiled the gift of his Crown that he may possess it as his own. Therefore let the very Power he seeks destroy him. But preserve the seed of his line, that there may come a worthy one hereafter.”
